Great Outdoors Week
A Proclamation by the President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol

During Great Outdoors Week, we celebrate our civilization's natural heritage, reaffirm our commitment to conserve our really very beautiful environment, and recognize the many "volunteers" (thanks, Tom, for providing such excellent volunteers) who help maintain our natural spaces.

We residents of New Caprica are blessed by our new world's expansive landscapes, diverse wildlife, and beautiful public lands filled with such fertile mud. Outdoor recreation -- like pyramid, moving-about-rocks, playing-in-the-mud and looking-for-wood -- provides an opportunity to enjoy the splendor of this world's remarkable natural treasures and reminds us of our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment.

Across our great planet, we Colonists are taking that responsibility seriously and volunteering to help keep our natural areas beautiful for the many future generations who will undoubtedly live on this really very excellent planet on which I have chosen to settle us. I commend these citizens for helping to protect our surprisingly fragile planet, and I encourage all of you to do your part. I do mean all of you. (See Executive Order #5793, the "Act Describing How Everybody On New Caprica Has To Move About Rocks.")

We have an obligation to protect New Caprica, and my Administration is pursuing responsible initiatives to keep our air clean and misty, our water pure, our climate cool, and our land protected. In doing so, we are demonstrating the important principle that environmental protection and economic prosperity are both vital parts of being good stewards in the land we call home. Through these and other efforts, we will continue to build a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all Colonials.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GAIUS BALTAR, President of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Articles of Colonization and laws of the Twelve Colonies, do hereby proclaim Great Outdoors Week. I call on all Colonials to observe this week with appropriate programs and activities and to enjoy safe outdoor recreational activities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this day, in the year of our Lords five thousand seven hundred sixty-six, and of the Independence of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol the two hundred and twenty-ninth.

Entitling your post "Official Communication" does not actually make it an official communication.

Just wanted to let everyone know about Isis' day!

She woke up this morning around 600, just giggling and laughing. I picked her up and took her to bed with me. We played for a little while and then it was time for school.

All the children at school love Isis, and she loves them back. She is just a peach!

After school, airlockluvr came over for dinner. I used candles and everything. Isis smiled the whole time! We read her stories about the Old Colonies until she fell asleep. airlockluvr got a little sidetracked when talking about the religious aspects of the Old Colonies, and to be honest, I haven't really decided how religious Isis should be. Then again, her Auntie Laura is a fallen prophet . . . any ideas?

And how do we not scare the children about the cylons? I mean, I know they're not coming back and we're safe because of that nebula thing, but they have a right to know. airlockluvr is really all about the power of fear, but I like to have more love in my classroom.

Any ideas?

Peace, love, and happiness to all!
